1. About this policy

The Confidence Academy ("we", "us", "our") respects your privacy and handles personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and how you can access or correct it.

It applies to our websites, online courses, memberships, email and social media communications, workshops, and school and group programs. By using our services or giving us your information, you accept the practices described here.

The Confidence Academy is operated by Eternity Centre, ABN 75161676982, Mosman, NSW, AUSTRALIA.

2. Information we collect

We collect only what we need to run our programs and support our community. Depending on how you deal with us, this may include:

We do not ask for sensitive information (such as health, religion, or ethnicity) unless it is needed for a specific purpose, and we will ask for your consent first. Please avoid including sensitive details in workbook responses or messages unless you are comfortable sharing them.

  • Identity and contact details: name, email address, phone number, postal address, and organisation or school.

  • Enrolment and account details: courses and resources you join, login credentials, and communication preferences.

  • Payment details: billing name and address and transaction records. Card details are handled by our payment processor and are not stored by us.

  • Learning and engagement data: course progress, completed lessons, workbook responses, quiz results, survey answers, and feedback or testimonials you choose to give us.

  • Communications: emails, messages, form submissions, and support requests.

  • Website and device data: IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, referring website, and cookie data.

  • Children's information: for school and family programs, a student's first name, year level, and school, as described in section 6.

We do not ask for sensitive information (such as health, religion, or ethnicity) unless it is needed for a specific purpose, and we will ask for your consent first. Please avoid including sensitive details in workbook responses or messages unless you are comfortable sharing them.

3. How we collect information

We collect personal information directly from you whenever you:

  • sign up for a free resource, email course, or newsletter;

  • enrol in a course, workshop, membership, or program;

  • complete forms, surveys, or workbooks;

  • contact us by email, phone, or social media message;

  • attend a live event, webinar, or school presentation.

We also collect information automatically through cookies, pixels, and similar technologies when you visit our websites or open our emails. Where we receive information from a third party, such as a school or a parent enrolling a child, we take reasonable steps to make sure you know about it.

4. Why we use your information

We use personal information to:

  • deliver the courses, resources, workshops, and programs you sign up for;

  • create and manage your account, process payments, and issue receipts;

  • respond to questions and provide support;

  • send you course updates, tips, and offers (see section 7);

  • understand how people use our content so we can improve it;

  • run school and group programs with the consent of the relevant school, parent, or guardian;

  • meet our legal, tax, and regulatory obligations.

We will only use your information for a different purpose if it is related to the original purpose and you would reasonably expect it, if you have consented, or if the law requires or permits it.

5. Who we share information with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with:

  • Service providers that help us operate, such as course hosting, email and CRM platforms, payment processors, website and analytics providers, and IT support. They may use your information only to provide services to us.

  • Schools and organisations that engage us, limited to what is needed to run the program (for example, enrolment or attendance).

  • Professional advisers such as accountants and lawyers.

  • Authorities or other parties where required or authorised by law.

Some of our providers store or process data outside Australia, including in the United States and other countries. Before disclosing information overseas, we take reasonable steps to make sure the recipient handles it consistently with the APPs, or we rely on your consent or another exception the Privacy Act allows.

If our business is sold or restructured, personal information may be transferred to the new owner, who must continue to protect it under this policy.

6. Children and school programs

Some of our programs are designed for children, parents, and schools. We collect a child's personal information only through a parent or guardian, or through a school that has obtained the required consent.

  • We collect the minimum needed, usually a first name, year level, and school.

  • We do not collect a child's home address, phone number, or payment details.

  • We do not use children's information for marketing without parent or guardian consent.

  • Parents and guardians can ask to see, correct, or delete their child's information at any time using the contact details in section 9.

If you believe a child has given us personal information without a parent or guardian's consent, contact us and we will delete it.

7. Marketing, cookies and analytics

Direct marketing. We may email or text you about courses, resources, and offers if you have subscribed or we have your consent. Every message includes a simple way to unsubscribe, and we comply with the Spam Act 2003 (Cth). You can also opt out any time by emailing us. Opting out of marketing does not stop service messages such as receipts and course access details.

Cookies and analytics. Our websites use cookies and similar tools to keep you logged in, remember preferences, measure traffic, and show relevant advertising. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, though some features may stop working.

Testimonials. We publish a testimonial or story only with your written permission, and you can withdraw it at any time.

8. Security, retention and data breaches

We protect personal information with access controls, secure platforms, and staff training, but no online system is completely secure. Please use a strong, unique password and keep it private.

We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes above or to meet legal obligations (for example, tax records are held for at least five years). When it is no longer needed, we delete or de-identify it.

If a data breach is likely to cause serious harm, we will notify affected individuals and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) as required by the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.

9. Access, correction, complaints and contact

You can ask to access or correct the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to delete it where the law allows. We will respond within 30 days and may need to verify your identity first.

If you have a privacy concern, contact us first and we will investigate and reply in writing. If you are not satisfied, you can complain to the OAIC at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.
